Described as "...fierce...powerful..." by The Seattle Times and “...virtuosic...superhuman...” by Cleveland Classical, Kenneth J. Cox is taking the music scene by storm. Armed with a large spectrum of musical styles, he has performed in over twenty internationally acclaimed venues throughout the United States, Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Netherlands, Ireland, China and Japan, including the National Centre for the Performing Arts (Beijing), Teatro Verdi (Florence), Shanghai Grand Theater, Contemporary Arts Centre (Dublin), private concerts in The Vatican, and recent solo performances in Carnegie Hall. He has been named finalist and prizewinner in many national and international competitions including the William C. Byrd International Young Artist Competition, the Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA) Young Artist Competitions, and the Young Artist Competitions of the Central Ohio Flute Association, Atlanta Flute Club, Florida Flute Association, South Carolina Flute Society, amongst many others. His recent performance of the monstrous Flute Concerto by Joan Tower was described by Joan Tower herself as “...fantastic, a brilliant musician!” Kenneth has also been a part of recording projects with the NAXOS International Classical Music Label, Mark Records, and most recently being featured on a CD released internationally with the Cincinnati Chamber Soloists. 

 
 
 

Along with multiple solo and collaborative engagements, Kenneth’s dedication to pedagogy is a staple in his musical career. Kenneth currently holds a Teaching Assistantship at Bowling Green State University and has given masterclasses/recitals at many universities including the University of Akron, University of Northern Colorado, University of South Carolina, Staffordshire University (United Kingdom), Ball State University, University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Ohio Northern University, Texas A&M University-Commerce, Georgia State University, along with many others. 

A specialist in contemporary music, Kenneth has championed the works of Pulitzer Prize winner Du Yun, Marcos Balter, Dennis Sullivan, and has collaborated with some of the world’s leading musicians including Claire Chase, Steven Schick, the International Contemporary Ensemble, Christian Wolff, Kate Soper, Jan Williams, members of the JACK Quartet, and Tony Arnold. He was recently a featured performer at the Noisefloor Festival 2017 (United Kingdom), the Toronto International Electroacoustic Symposium, and has held residencies at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, New Music on the Point and the Atlantic Music Festival.  Kenneth has commissioned and premiered over twenty-five new works  over the last six years, including the music of David Clay Mettens, Nathaniel Haering, and the premiere performance of Ned McGowan’s Torrent at the 2012 National Flute Association Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2019, Kenneth will perform world premieres by Baljinder Sekhon, Bob Morris, and Osnat Netzer at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. with saxophonist Doug O’Connor. Kenneth is currently ABD for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Contemporary Music at Bowling Green State University. He is also graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the University of South Carolina. A former Performing Artist with Miyazawa Flutes (USA/Japan), Kenneth now plays on a custom Yamaha-977 9-karat gold flute.
